Trip Wire or Launch Pad?

Expectations can release faith or be a trip wire for stumbling. The key is found in Ps 62:5 were it is clarifies that our expectations come FROM the Lord as we wait silently for him. Expectations can be very powerful, we may look at something or someone to see how we may profit or get what we desire. In a Godly sense our expectations come from God in Eph 3:20. They are a result of reflection. Our flesh is always looking how to benefit with the least work. Disappointment comes when we expect from people or things - these can become misguided expectations, a trip wire. But we must shift and look unto Jesus and search for him in the situation - this is were we go beyond the obvious and touch the real source. Empty promises, frustrated dreams, disappointments, they are like a wet blanket on our faith - this can be turned around as we look unto Jesus. Replacing the past with a divine promise in the present - Phil 3:13. Jesus didn’t put his trust in man because he knew what was "in man" - he was governed by his Father. What do you trust in today, hoping in, and looking to gain from today? Launch out into the depth of Faith (Luke 5:4). Their is no excuse for quitting, surrender it all to God and keep moving forward - every obstacle is designed to be a stepping stone - UP!

Pastor Jason,

Great thoughts! I especially like the thought "Our flesh is always looking how to benefit with the least work." Very powerful statement. Very convicting but "good" conviction. Thanks for your life...your friendship...your portion in the body. We love you!
